Bodegas Castelar

VINEYARDS

Bodegas Castelar uses vineyards located in the South of the Tierra de Barros, a region encompassing more than one hundred hectares of land that feature the following grape varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Carbenet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pardina, Cayetana, Macabeo and Verdejo.

The exceptional location of the vines, protected by the Mountains of Sierra Grande and the exceptional qualities of the ground allow us to produce less quantity of vines in order to increase the quality of our wines.

The sunny region, with their characteristic clean and blue skies, provides excellent climate conditions to optimize the processes of photosynthesis.

The vines accommodate perfectly to this soils typically made of slate (broken), organically poor, and slightly fertile.

Tempranillo Vineyard

Located at the sunny side of the Mountains of Sierra Grande, in Hornachos, Badajoz, with an altitude of 400-500 meters above the sea level.

It is composed of slaty, pebble soils of poor fertility. The vineyard extends over fields of irregular orography, with mild mounds making up different plots that present varied traits.

The conduction system is the more traditional “trellis ” in which the vines are driven horizontally, with a medium production of no more of 35 hectolitre per hectare and manual recollection.

Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Garnacha Vineyard

Pardina, Cayetana, Blanca and Macabeo Vineyard
